Enigma

Let me start of this post by pointing out how many of us wear spectacles, am guessing a lot. And how many of us actually wear our spectacles out, as in to occasions such as a wedding or maybe a date or even on a vacation ? Unfortunately, not all. While some of us resort to lenses, others who’re not so comfortable with lenses, have to wear spectacles throughout willingly or unwillingly. I have come across a lot of women around me who don’t feel so confident about their looks with their glasses on and are constantly looking for excuses or opportunities to take them off. But why carry your spectacles as some weight, why not as an accessory ? Don’t you indulge in buying fancy sunglasses for yourself as a perfect accessory to go out in the sun, then why not the same for spectacles too especially when you have to (at least most of us) wear them the whole day.

It’s all about finding the right pair that suits your personality and works right for your personal style, the right frame can make you look chic and glamorous at the same time.

Am sure most of you must have come across Titan Eyeplus’s latest advertisement about their new spectacle collection Enigma which is designed exclusively for women.

The Enigma collection basically comprises of three broad categories of designs: Embellished Elegance, Corporate Chic and Glam It Up (for online catalogue, click here).

The idea behind this collection is to promote #SpexAppeal, yes. Spexappeal is all about showing your glamorous, sexy and sassy side even with your glasses on. These Enigma collection frames have been designed as a perfect fashion accessory for the woman of today who’s strong, confident, ambitious and a go-getter. These frames can be teamed up with any outfit for any occasion, be it a wedding, a party or a corporate event.

I recently had the opportunity to check out the collection myself at my nearest Titan Eyeplus store and I loved what I saw. The collection has a plethora of options in terms of frame shape, style and colors. I picked up a few frames to style and share with you guys here.

I came up with few looks, out of which I’ll be sharing four looks in this post and the rest in my other post on the same.

Hues

Can’t believe it’s the last month of the year already, time literally flies !

As you guys already know (thanks to my Instagram feeds) that I recently took a break, not a long one though, but still a break.

We went to Bangkok during the second week of November and had a great time; we checked out couple of places, stayed at this super cool hotel and partied crazy. I’ll save the rest of the details for a post am planning to do on it probably later this month itself.

On our last night in Bangkok, Shitiz and I decided to make it more like a date thing than the regular partying mode we were on throughout. So on this date night, what I wore was my favourite outfit from the whole trip and I wanted to share the same with you guys here. I did share a picture of it on my Instagram but it was sort of blurry and well, not so great.

I recreated the entire look, including the makeup and here are the pictures:

DSC_0862

A little about the outfit: The maxi dress is from Koovs, what I like about the dress is its print, sort of creates an illusion of length, hence making me look tall.

For makeup, I stuck to the pink palette as I think red with white and black is tad overrated. Pink actually adds to the romantic element considering it was for a date night. Am wearing Pink Velvet blush from Mac on cheeks, Girl About Town from Mac topped with Sephora’s Hot Spot Shimmer on lips and Maybelline Gel Liner on eyes.

For hair, keeping the feminine, romantic mood in mind, I opted for a messy yet chic side-bun.

Further, to bring out any outfit, accessories play a significant role.

To break the monotony of the print, I added a metallic belt from Youshine to the outfit. The neckpiece and the box clutch are also from Youshine. Earrings from Forever 21 and the cuff and ring from Chicaccessorizer finished the look.

(Watch from Michael Kors, incase you’re wondering)

Hope you guys liked the outfit as much as I did.

Enjoy this last month of the year and make some memories as you must !

Much Love.

Sunday with Xperia Z3 Compact

Hello guys !

Well I have been having some crazy hectic days off-lately at work and otherwise. I think that’s a direct repercussion of being almost a week away at home for Diwali, rendering me pretty much sleep deprived, chronically if I must say, worked up and no time to just sit back and relax.

However, this weekend turned out to be a pretty lazy one thanks to my wi-fi being down. I just had no way around it and ended up fully enjoying my Sunday after a long while (I am mostly busy with blog and related work on weekends besides the regular-married-women-weekend-house-chores, phew!).

So, basically, if you’re a girl like me, have pretty much no work to do and get to chill around, what do you do ?

You click ! And click ! And click. Anything and everything. That’s exactly what I did 😀

Now, I have been getting a lot of comments/queries from my followers on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook about how does the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact camera fares in terms of day to day functionality. Now when I say day to day functionality, it refers to random clicks such as selfies, food pictures, outfit pictures, people around you and a lot of other stuff that goes up on your social media platforms. I mean, that’s why you need a phone camera right, the digicams and SLRs are usually for professional/ vacation/ occasional purposes, so is the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact camera good for daily purpose ?

Here’s the answer. Since I had a relaxed Sunday and a lot of things and time to click, I decided to sort of document my day with pictures, the kind of pictures, at least I upload on my media platforms.

Here are the unedited, unfiltered pictures as clicked by me or Shitiz in auto-mode at different time/light/day/indoor-outdoor settings:

Morning dose of read and green tea !

Ready to go for a brunch at a friend’s place and so (much obvious) outfit shots clicked to upload one of those on Instagram:DSC_0229.

Came back, had a good afternoon nap and got all set for some retail therapy !

En-route mall selfie and a random pic while on the road:

Managed to click and outfit selfie in trial room at one of the stores 😛

DSC_0270

And then I found a perfect pair of dark blue denims and a white shirt which I bought with few other things, couldn’t help clicking a pic with that too !

DSC_0273

Post shopping we went to this place called The Chocolate Room for a quick snack. Usually the food and shakes/coffees are pretty decent but I was hugely disappointed with the wrap and shake I ordered this time. Nonetheless, a food pic as what is social media without some food pics !

It may not look that pretty because no-filters-attached 😀

DSC_0277

So a day well spent, well accomplished as I managed to check out and shop at the new mall that has recently come up, Forum Mall. We bought some clothing items for me and Shitiz. Of course I look tired here, but totally worth it !

Even bought/restocked some of my beauty essentials I was running out of just before my vacation next week. Here’s a peek:

Had home-cooked meal, watched a movie and ended the day with some liquor chocolates for dessert !!

DSC_0305

Seems like a Sunday well-spent, right ?! 😀

I hope at least most of your doubts about Z3’s camera must have been cleared by now, I myself am happy with the camera and can’t stop clicking !

Also, I’ll be on vacation soon so will click more pictures from my Xperia Z3 Compact and share them 🙂

Do share your views/queries/comments on how you find the pictures clicked by my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact 🙂

Feminine Masculine

Do you know about Androgynous trend? I bet you do, it’s been all over for quite some time; and for those who don’t, let me tell you a bit about it.

Androgyny is a combination feminine and masculine traits while androgynous fashion is all about balancing the feminine and masculine elements for clothing.

Adding masculine hints to personal style isn’t something new today for women and is pretty popular all around the globe, look at Alexa Chung, being the poster girl for androgynous dressing. I also love how Mira Duma embraces androgynous style on/off and needless to say, impeccably.

Some see it as a way of dressing (read being tomboyish) and just a personal choice for style, while some rather connote it to power dressing, liberation of women, being equal to men and so dressing up like them. Whatever the reason be as to why women adopt this particular style, it is definitely becoming more popular with each passing year.

I personally see it as comfort-friendly style and like to give my dresses a break for pleated pants once in a while or even switch my heels with ankle boots/ brogues for a relaxed outing.

Pleated pants and boyfriend blazers are my favourite androgynous pieces. I remember buying my first pair of androgynous pants some 4 years back and have been loving this trend since then.

Now for this post, I have created an androgynous look with a white boxy crop top and black pleated pants. I kept the look monochrome only to emphasize on the androgynous aspect but have also added some colours with my accessories and heels to balance the look with feminine elements. I purposely wore aviators as they are unisex.

final1

final3

final2

final5

What to wear for androgynous style without going overboard with it:

1) Oxford shoes/ Brogues: Wear these with with your skinny jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts.

2) A Boyfriend Blazer is a perfect way of earning some androgynous style points.

3) Boyfriend Denims: Style these with crop tops, tanks, shirts anything. You can wear brogues, heels, sneakers anything, whatever works for your personal style.

4) Oxford Shirts: Team them with midi skirts, cute shorts or fitted pants.

5) Feel free to add bow-ties to your outfit, don’t shy away from wearing pant-suits (with heels preferably) or shorts-suit (with brogues maybe), even culottes work.

6) Pleated Pants: Wear these with crop tops, camisoles, tanks and some nice heels.

Basic dos and don’ts:

1) Keep it minimal, don’t clutter the look, and keep it simple, sleek and neat.

2) Don’t be shabby, there’s a thin line b/w doing the ‘little over-sized boyfriend look’ and the ‘bit too over-sized and shabby look’, don’t cross it.

3) Don’t over-accessorize it, that’ll just kill the look.

4) Keep the make-up simple, either a nice lip colour or a hint of smokey eyes/ just kohl, refrain from doing all of it. Too much make-up isn’t androgynous exactly.

5) The idea is to balance the masculine and feminine elements, don’t let one take-over the other but complement each other.

Androgynous look has its own charm, do try it if you haven’t already, it’s easier to carry than you may think it is. Hope this post helps but in case of any further queries, feel free to drop a comment or mail me.

Tuscany

I think I have been wanting to do this for a while, I mean, review my favourite places to eat, dine and relish good food. Some of you who follow me on Instagram would have noticed how often I keep going out to places to dine. On some weekends I take a break even from cooking and we go out, mostly exploring new places to eat. Being a Delhiite, you can’t blame me for being a foodie, so what if am a vegetarian, food is still my love !

As most of you know from my Twitter/ Instagram that I had recently completed a year at my job, my husband decided to take me out on a nice dinner date.

Wine, dine and conversations, one of the best things about a relationship, aren’t they ?!

We ended up going to Tuscany at Trident, since it’s one of our favourite places to go so the choice was quite obvious.

t1

Tuscany is an Italian restaurant at Trident Hyderabad inspired by the simple and robust cuisine of the Tuscany region with prime focus on olives, cheese, wine and traditional flavours of Italy.

The warm ambience of flaming red terracotta tiles and Paulin Paris hand-painted murals bring out the Tuscan vibe.

t

Authentic Tuscan ingredients for the plate and an extensive selection of wine, makes this place perfect for a ‘wine and dine’ outing !

Before we could get started with ordering our food, the chef Sanjay, suggested us to have an olive oil-tasting session.

It’s similar to wine-tasting in a way that the whole origin, processing and preparation of each kind of olive oil is different, thus giving each its unique flavour. And honestly we quite enjoyed it !

t2

After the olive-oil tasting, we placed the order. While I ordered vegetarian food items, my husband ordered non-vegetarian food.

t3

The staff is very helpful if you’re even little unsure about what to order. We finally ordered some appetizers and drinks. Sangria for me and White Wine for Shitiz.

 t4

For appetizers, we ordered Trio of Crostini, Footlong (both veg.) and Chicken Brochette.

I liked the footlong more than the other appetizer, because cheese. While Shitiz loved his chicken appetizer and didn’t bother himself to even taste the veg. appetizers !

 t5

After savoring the Tuscan delights for appetizers, we ordered the main course.

For soups, Minestrone for me and Chicken Broth for Shitiz..

t6

t7

As for the meal, I let the chef decide for me (read surprise me !) while Shitiz ordered Chicken Pyramidoli.

The chef got me Beetroot Ravioli.

Now I am not much of a beetroot fan, so I was little reluctant about even trying it. But when I did take a bite, I instantly loved it !

Shitiz was obviously enjoying his meal too and complimented the chef for the same.

t8

 t9

Ok, I don’t know how I managed to, blame it on the food to be delicious, I finished the entire serving despite of having all those appetizers and soup !

And then came my favourite part of the meal, dessert time !

I have a sweet-tooth, so I just can’t do without dessert even if full (all the more reason why I should work out sincerely..sigh).

We ordered Crème brûlée and Tiramisu with Raspberry ice-cream. One word: YUMZAAA !

 t10

I thoroughly enjoyed each and every thing, specially my Sangria,  Ravioli & the Tiramisu and I know I’ll keep going back to this place. I love the food. Besides just the taste, food quality is really good.

Also, the ambience is awesome, service is greta, everyone in the staff is warm and welcoming making the whole experience worth it. I’d really like to mention that the chef, Sanjay, is really sweet and super-talented !

I’d definitely recommend Tuscany to each one of my readers 🙂

And this is what I wore:

One outfit, four ways

As I always say, that the secret to not look like you repeat your clothes too often is to not repeat a combination.

The same combination of clothes, accessories, anything, try to come up with a different look/combo for each piece of clothing you have if possible. The same basic white shirt can be worn in zillion ways such as with denim shorts, plaid trousers, boyfriend jeans, aztec skirt, midi-skirt, anything and everything. You just need to be creative and this works for all the items you have in your closet.

Well, beyond that if you still have to repeat the same combination of outfit, as in same clothing pieces, you can still get away making it look different each time. It all depends on how you accessorize it, paying attention to small details and again, being creative.

For this post, I used the same clothing pieces to come up with four different looks. The same white shirt (from Globus) and Pleated Midi Skirt (from Koovs by Henry Holland) has been worn each time with different accessories. Obviously it’s not like repeating clothes is some sort of an offense, we all do, but the idea is to make maximum use of every item you have in your wardrobe with just little imagination, thus curbing the need/want to buy more clothes.

Look 1: Here I didn’t tuck the shirt in & used a belt around my upper waist and teamed it with a Zara tote & Marie Claire Wedges.

Image

Image

Look 2: I tucked the shirt in, switched to flats (from Lifestyle), paired it with a bright blue (Lavie) handbag borrowed from my sister. I also added a hat (Jack & Jones) to complete the look. The rings are from Urban Turban & chain is a thrift buy.

Image

Image

Image

Look 3: This one has more of a boho-vibe to it. I added a Puma Sportswear (why not?!) as a crop top and kept the shirt unbuttoned. Finished the look with matching footwear (from Max) and a studded belt (from Colaba) and a sling (from Vero Moda Pieces). Messy hair, yes please !

ImageImage

Look 4: Here I am wearing the shirt un-tucked but knotted, kept the look simple with pink flats (from Flipkart) and a satchel (from BCBGeneration). The hand harness is from Forever 21.

Image

Image

Image

Also, always prefer to buy separates than single pieces, as in prefer buying skirts/ shorts/ pants over dresses and other one pieces as you can come up with more combinations with separates. If you can style a one-piece, in say at least 5 ways, with separates it automatically multiplies by at least double.

The Sports Luxe

Am sure you must have been hearing this term for a while for it’s the latest trend not just on runways but also beyond. From Marc Jacobs to Tom Ford to Chanel S/S’14 collection, everyone’s doing the Sports Luxe.

So what is Sports Luxe ?

Sports Luxe is chic sports inspired fashionable pieces. Easy, relaxed and very comfort-friendly, the modern fuss-free sport-inspired trend is super fun !

I still don’t know why I hadn’t put this post up earlier considering these pictures were clicked way back in January, but better be late than never.

I have embraced the spirit of athleticism by adding Sports Luxe watch (by Armani) and Sports Luxe pants (by Koovs) in this outfit post.

ImageImageImage

Image

Image

(Pants from Koovs, Bag from BCBGeneration, Booties from Forever New, Riri Woo by Mac on Lips)

Tips on how to incorporate Sports Luxe trend in your style:

1) Don’t shy away from Sneakers, Trainers and Wedge Sneakers. Wear with not just denims but also skirts, dresses & cute-sy shorts.

2) Go for Bomber Jackets, mesh insert tees, racer-front vests, crop tops & crop tees.

3) The relaxed look is the key, don’t go for too fitted outfits, keep it simple and neat, don’t clutter the look with too many accessories.

4) Pair heels with sports inspired pants, can team them with crop or boxy tops or even loose fitted blouses.

5) Colour blocking and pieces with side-piping are a good idea.

6) Silk track pants with block heels, why not ?

7) Go for one sport inspired piece at a time while keep the rest tailored and structured unless sure of it. Only Rihanna and Rita Ora can go overboard with it & still get away.

8) Most important: being comfortable carrying it !

Go get little edgy and bring some sporty-drama to your outfit when you go out next.

Pastel Crush

Pastels is definitely big this season globally and personally I have always had a crush on pastel hues. Be it for clothing, accessories or even nail paints, I always loved pastels for the fact that it exudes elegance and an earthy charm. And aren’t they just perfect for summer clothing, giving them a light airy soothing feel ?!

So here I am donning my favourite summer trend for this season with hints of block colours and floral print.
